The Cox 8 Table | NH Spine & Sport

Long ago, osteopaths were similar to chiropractors. Eventually, osteopathy became just another name for allopathic medicine. Before this change, more than a hundred years ago, an osteopath had an idea about a better way to treat disc herniations.

See, discs are a jelly center between two vertebral bones, surrounded by a thick, tough ligament. This means if a disc is injured, it is very tricky to put any force through it without making it worse. But if you could suspend it, basically lift the bones apart, then you can work on it.

An osteopath named McManis had this idea, and built a table that ultimately languished for decades. Dr. James Cox heard about this table, and over decades, perfected the idea. This instrument, called the Cox 8 table, is proven by National Institutes of Health studies to reduce the pressure inside the disc (pushing painfully against the ligament) by 274%!

The Cox 8 has been shown to be as effective as surgery for many disc herniations. By the way, did you know less that 2% of all disc herniations require surgery? There are very few of these tables around, but Dr. Baroody at New Hampshire Spine and Sport has one. He’s specialized for twenty years in the non-surgical care of disc herniations and sciatica.
