Sciatic nerve pain can be tricky and painful. If it’s something you struggle with, here’s a simple 5 minute yoga sequence to help you alleviate this discomfort. Sciatica refers to inflammation or pinching of the sciatic nerve. You might feel this in your low back, in your hips, glutes and radiating down the leg. I’ll take you through 5 yoga poses for sciatica pain relief which will target your hips and lower back.

Please remember that sciatica nerve pain is different for everyone and the general rule of thumb with all health & fitness is that if something doesn’t feel good, don’t do it! If there’s pain while performing any of these poses please leave them out or reduce the level of intensity.

The five yoga poses for sciatica pain relief I’ll be guiding you through are:
– staff pose/dandasana
– seated twist/ardha matsyendrasana
– reclined pigeon/supta kapotasana
– reclined hand to big toe pose/supta padangusthasana
– bridge pose/setu bandha sarvangasana

The set I’m wearing is from Praise Endurance

Thanks for watching,
Kassandra

  1. Loved it mine has been nagging at me for awhile now and I don't have a cat but do have a 17 year old dog who likes joining in sometimes during my Kundalini yoga practices I even bought an extra yoga mat just for him to lay on next to me and not on me and he finds it quite comfy and he even found a favorite yoga pose he calls the sleepy puppy pose 😊 lol thank you I already am feeling relief and believe the more I practice yoga in my daily life the better I will be feeling all around .✌️🌞❤️🌏😇🤍🕊️

  2. I have a cat on my mat too😊 I have sciatica today. It doesn't happen often so this helped. FYI your kitties look a little overweight. I'm 69 and have had cats for 65 years. Modern diets and vets today are awful. Feed only wet food as cats are carnivour. Lots of fresh water and homeopathic supplements only. No vaccines and they will live to be 20 plus years. 😊

  3. Thank you SO MUCH! this video was so wonderful, helpful and your little reminders to keep my shoulders down were perfectly timed lol. This is one of my first few times trying yoga and i certainly will be following and learning more from you!

  4. I ve woken with lower back and neck pain every morning following a severe head-on car accident. This video helps me immensely ease the pain just a little and because you lift me out of my dark space with this super sequence, your cats wandering in, your beautiful voice, your smile and your beautiful energy, thank you Kassandra.

  5. You want to take every knowledge of Yog…not even mentioning which asanas you performing. And having 3 million subcribers. Not even in single video you have named a which asanas you doing. In one video you say 'Deer pose' what the hell is 'deer pose', its name is 'Mrigasana'…As usual west also have habit of stealing and make it your own. I know how USA patented the 'turmeric'. Turmeric belongs to Indian sub continent….

  6. Please also mention poses with name…never say poses…this all are 'asanas'…please which asanas you showing….this will be bitter for you..but I am saying exactly true thing…

Second thing Western culture is literally destroying 'Yog'…..

  7. I found these Yoga poses very good. My muscles were actually tight and i didn't really push myself. But slowly, i am going to do it like you teach.
I am from Southern India and learning Yoga frm you is quite exciting ! The names of these poses are tongue twisters even for us, and i must say you are doing pretty well !
    Thank you.

  8. I love your videos. Thanks for all the great content! (: I have a quick question. In most of your videos, you hold poses for longer periods. Is there a reason why the poses in this video are held for a shorter period? TIA

  9. I'm serious. Please drop a comment and share your experience if you feel relieved after doing the exercise from this video. I also want to get out of sciatica.

I'm now experiencing sciatica pain for three months (gets worse after the fall during the earthquake), is actually started around three years ago from my back pain, while I was doing an exercise at home.
I'm visiting a lot of doctors and not effective yet. It just feels a little better when I'm taking the medicine.

  10. I don’t wanna speak too soon, however. I have been having issues with my spine since 2006. I have been on every opiate that has been produced and as we all know, those are gigantic Band-Aids! I have had the MRIs to EMGs, the x-ray and CAT scans Potential surgeries that I did not want however, I’ve only done these stretches twice and honestly, this has had such a great effect on me. I’m almost in tears. To have the type of excruciating pain that I deal with on a daily basis be alleviated in anyway without any medication is amazing. Keep doing what you’re doing because perhaps to there is someone out there even worse than me at 60 years old that you can help. Once again, thank you.
