  1. Sit Up Straight – Make it a point to take stock of your posture throughout the day and make adjustments when you realize that you’re hunched forward or slouched in your chair. Sitting in an unhealthy alignment puts excessive strain on different parts of your spine, particularly in the lumbar and cervical portions. Over time, this can serve to speed up degenerative changes or increase your risk of disc problems as a result of shifting or disc herniation.   2. Drink More Water – Your spinal discs and the muscles that support your spinal column function better when they are well hydrated.   5. Limit Screen Time – Finally, many of us could benefit from a little less screen time. Not only are we typically inactive when we’re staring at a television screen or our phones, we’re also prone to unhealthy posture when we’re on our devices. For the health of your spine and your whole body, strive to stare at a screen a little less and move a little more.
