Doctor Andrea Furlan explains that osteoarthritis is a slow and low-grade inflammation that attacks the cartilage of the joints. The amount of pain a person has is not a good measure of how much damage there is in the cartilage. Some people have a lot of damage and not much pain, and others, have mild damage and feel a lot of pain.
Dr. Furlan explains what the drivers of ongoing chronic inflammation are, and how to prevent its progression.
Osteoarthritis affects a lot of people who are overweight and obese. The adipose tissue, or fat tissue, produces substances called “adipokines” and these substances maintain the pro-inflammatory state in our bodies. This pro-inflammatory state leads to the ongoing destruction of the cartilage that protects the joints.
If you want to slow the progression of osteoarthritis and decrease the intensity of pain, try these strategies: 1) lose weight, 2) move the joints as much as you can, 3) avoid central sensitization doing mind-body therapies, and 4) start an anti-inflammatory diet.

I have just been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my right foot. I am very confused as I have been involved in sports all my life, I am 70 years old and I do five yoga classes a week. I am a holistic nutritionist so eat extremely healthy and I am not overweight. Why would I get osteoarthritis in my right foot only? If you could give me any recommendations on what I should do I would appreciate it. Because it's in my right foot with summer I have worn open sandals. With winter coming I have to wear shoes which will rub on the top of my foot which is where the osteoarthritis is and the inflammation.
10g creatine monohydrate twice a day works UNBELIEVABLY on OA! You might need to work up to taking that much. 5g once a day for a few weeks. Then 5g twice a day for a few weeks.
I stumbled on it by taking 10g for cognitive function. I noticed pain was 99% gone & mobility shot WAY up! I take another 10g around lunch. I'm pretty sure I could run again. Just don't want to push it so soon.
I've had OA since 2019. I take no pain medication. Keto & Carnivore work amazing for killing inflammation. I am back to eating crap for about a year now. So pain is there, I can just tolerate it. But the creatine was an amazing discovery
I have it in knees and back so much pain
"Planet Ayurveda’s Bone Support provides holistic, herbal support to maintain bone density and manage osteoarthritis symptoms."
"Planet Ayurveda’s Bone Support offers natural relief by supporting joint strength and reducing discomfort in osteoarthritis."
I do and take all you mentioned, but have still got the problems.
I was 238 pounds. I used to work from home remotely. I didn’t go for walks or do any exercise, suddenly I lost my IT job. I started working at homedepot. My knees started so much pain and burning sensation. I had to go in EER, doc did some X-rays, doctor told my left knees has some very mild narrowing. I started fasting like dry fasting for 24 hours. Started gym and walking at homedepot. Now I’m 221 pounds. And the pain is almost gone like 99%, you are right, fat around abdomen causes osteoarthritis. So I’m still trying to get to 180 or 200 pounds, I’m 38 years old.
I have it in my fingers. I was on Meloxicam for years causing kidney disease. My pcp kept refilling my prescription.
I was diagnosed with OA in my mid 20s when I was skinny as a rail. My mom had it too…since I stopped eating gluten, take turmeric and ginger with black pepper..
Pain is pretty much gone.
I have been told I have osteoarthritis and am scheduled for total hip replacement. But I have never had any pain except that my leg/thigh gives way and won't support me. The doctor said, that having no pain is classic hip osteoarthritis. That is not what I hear from other people with it who say they stand the pain.
I endured osteoarthritis through a high-distance and high-force fall and severe injury on the ankle, pilon fracture. In this case, is growing of new cartilage with this advice possible?

Ceylon cinnamon and fresh ginger good for pain. Takes a couple of weeks to kick in. Best way is to mix in smoothie
I get excruciating pain in my spine and can be awake all night, pain killers don't help. Any advice would be welcome.
I was recently told by a podiatrist that my osteoarthritis in my feet was caused by wear and tear from standing at my job as a chef. Is this definitely untrue? The doctors believe this too. It’s true that I’m on my feet a lot.
Bone Support capsules and Lakshadi Guggul of Planet Ayurveda are really effective for this condition.
Obesity and Adipokines may well be a factor in osteoarthritis, but doesn’t explain why slim people also get osteoarthritis too. There has to be other contributing factors involved, such as diet, genetics and lifestyle and similar to those factors that contribute to many forms of cancer, in which chronic inflammation, caused through diet, genetics or lifestyle is also implicated.
I have bilateral knee and hip replacement 13 years ago but now it's very worse please advise
