Difficulty walking with arthritis pain? Try this to help you keep up!

To master walking…

You essentially have to be really good at standing with your full weight on each leg. That’s what walking is!

You take a step and transfer your weight as you lift the back leg and swing it forward. Then you take another step and repeat the process 🔁

If you have arthritis pain in your hip, knee, ankle, back, or foot- you may notice a limp because your body wants to get off the painful side as quickly as possible – or may not even want to out full weight on that side 🫠

But you can rebuild both confidence and strength! 💪🏽

This is a simple movement to get started with to start building up your confidence ☝🏽

Use support like a wall or kitchen counter when first starting and work away from the support as your able. Don’t lean to one side- if you find yourself leaning- you may need more support ☝🏽

Try to build up to 20-30 steps forwards and backwards. As you get better start building up to 50-60- but only if it feels good ✅

Start with your stronger side to get the hang of it then move to the more difficult or painful side 🙌🏼

You can do this!!

  1. My weight is on one leg because I have spastic diplegia cerebral palsy my calves are underdeveloped so I use my legs in different ways I just got diagnosed with mild osteoarthritis of the hip and it causes heaviness in my knees but I use my knees to hold me stable they stay together and support each other. When I have traveled the people I was with didn't rush me and I was able to enjoy my trip without overdoing it though he walked alot.

  2. If having hip pain on left side in need of surgery and right knee pain and the shot did not work now, would it help walking with this , as feel it would but wondered what you felt about this? Even if I used a cane would not know just which side to put it on and it just is hard depending which side is worse if it were to work at all. I have trouble keeping balance. All it amounts to is surgery with arthritis,

  3. Thank you, so much and think this may be a good idea to start the legs moving, I tried to dance and even out it all in slower motion, and worked on it ,and then next day hardly could walk at all , But I thought it was an easy routine!

  4. I miss dancing which I have done sine 3 yrs old and taught dancing and then this and cannot hardly climb stairs and walking in house or anywhere is hard and sometimes dangerous as of balance and I was even an activities director for an adult home for twenty years! I just want to do it all again and at least walk normally again and then maybe dance.

  5. Thank you for sharing, I'm finding difficult to walk upstairs, uphill and even wear trousers 👖 😢right now not getting treatment yet because of not getting my results from the doctor 😢
