Controversial knee arthritis treatment?

Everyone tells you to strengthen your quads for knee arthritis.
I’m telling you… don’t.

This goes against the research. I know.

But the research hasn’t studied the muscle imbalance behind arthritis pain.

Our patients, program members, and millions of viewers have already seen the results:
✅ Less swelling
✅ Better movement
✅ Cancelled surgeries

I’m putting this to the test, and yes, I could be wrong.

But if there’s even a chance this helps people avoid a knee replacement…

I’m all in.

  1. I started PT for my knee arthritis and the quad strengthening didn’t help at all. So I’ve now stopped that and switched to glute exercises and I do feel sone relief. I think I’ll need to keep doing them for some time.

  2. 79 yrs. old . Female. Last night I experienced knee pain in the front of my knee. I propped my right leg w/pillows ; awakened at 4 am with discomfort. When I got out of bed it was difficult; put on a knee support sleeve. Went back to bed; got up & had some sharp discomfort. After walking around my pain went away. This came on unexpectedly —no injury unless you count 10 yrs ago when my 137 lb Lab pulled to the ground & twisted my knee. I recovered several months later without ever seeing a doctor. This seemed to happen when I get in & out of bed. Been doing hip muscle building from your videos. Is there anything else I should be doing?

  3. More power to you, Dr David, may your work be recognized by the world's medical research. You're right about quads, standing and cooking everyday causing knee stiffness for me. I learn to massage hardened quads from you before retiring the night. I'm fixing my muscles imbalances through full body workout, the whole mechanism. Working on my glutes, hips, abs, (trying, trying, trying) not using my quads, it is tough undoing what I've been doing my whole life. I'm seeing signs of improvement, though I can't undo the past injuries, at least I'm adequately muscles-prepared before another accident. I got to know about muscles imbalances theory from you.

  4. Dr. David… you are NOT wrong!!! Learning to use my glutes after watching your videos has made a tremendous improvement in my bone on bone knee arthritis. The problem is remembering to engage them every time I stand up or start to walk. I’m working on it because it definitely makes a difference. I’ve also found that cutting inflammation and eating better, specifically eliminating sugar, makes following your lessons much easier due to less pain and swelling. You are a great motivator and a specialist who sincerely cares about people. Thank you 🏆🏆🏆

  5. Thank you David. I had really rough time with this pain and even I started to believe that my next step forward was surgery. I believe on you and after 3 month of exercise my glutes and lower back the pain started to move away……I'm praying for my good brother, he is going through the same pain……I hope he listen to you! His name is Marcelo!

  6. Your advice has turned my life around in one year. I walk without a limp now and pain is less by 90 per cent most of the time. My glutes and hip feel healthy and are my glutes are able to flex without the hamstring and quads. Thanks Dr David.

  7. I teach people 65 and older both online and in a studio and while, yes, I have them do goblet squats (activating their glutes first of course) 😉 I absolutely train the glutes now more based on the success I have seen incorporating information you and others have shared through your YouTube videos. These ladies have all gotten stronger, have better balance and are able to move well. The oldest is 86. She has numerous health challenges such as scoliosis, a clotting disorder, osteoporosis etc but holds a minute plank and each year her bone density improves and the doctors are amazed. Her children picked her up at the airport and said she stands taller now. Nothing could have made her happier than to hear them say that since her curvature always made her look crooked!

My background is teaching Vaganova based ballet. My passion now is to help others live independently and able to move well for as long as they have breath.

  8. I totally agree that glute strengthening is the way to go. Since I found this channel, I have tried your exercises and now, even though I still have occasional knee pain, amazingly, I do not feel pain after pickleball anymore. I am amazed, thank you!

  9. I suffered from knee pain and discomfort since i was 23. For most of my 20s and 30s i had clicking knees. In my 30s I couldn't do the Asian squat anymore. When i was 42, i was suffering from one of the worst episodes of knee pain due to working out. I seeked a PT in my city, they taught me exercises to strengthen the quads, it didn't help. Fortuitously, I stumbled on Dr. David's short video about strengthening the glutes, I tried it and it relieved my pain. I liked it so much I bought the 28-day program. Even before i finished the program my knees got well. Now I'm back to working out and doing deep squats with no trouble. If i do feel some knee discomfort, i just do the glute exercises again and it's gone. When it comes to knee pain, there's no one i trust more.

  10. All the countries with 60% enriched uranium have nukes. Except Iran, which means they could make one…but they dont need one in order to be a threat. 9/11 was done by Saudi Arabians with box cutters
