  1. Most back pain has a SPECIFIC mechanical cause. This means applying a random non-specific fix (like general manipulations by a practitioner or random stretches you see on social media) will rarely creating lasting results. To truly fix an injury, you need a proper assessment. Today you’ll see what that looks like.
    .
From Dr. Stuart McGill, “Back pain is almost always exacerbated by a particular motion, posture or load. Motions, postures or loads that exacerbate the back pain together with those that are tolerated can be identified. A prevention plan can be designed to eliminate the specific causes (motions, postures and loads identified through provocative testing – known as pain triggers) and a rehabilitation plan can be designed to enhance tolerance to these triggers. Back patients can therefore be categorized based on their intolerances.”

  2. I use a lifting belt for what sounds like the same reasoning shared here. My strength and stability, and my control at depth, seem to improve when I have that belt engaged. It’s a physical queue to press against that my flexing my core before descending and it makes ALL of the difference. I still have some limitations on hip mobility that I want to work out but at least I know I can usually do heavy squats without pain. It’s been over a year since I had anything funky happen during a squat – when I was pretty new to lifting, no belt, went too heavy too fast.

  3. I have scoliosis and when. And before the rain comes it’s hurts like hell I have to take a elderberry espom salt bath half hour to stop the pain so I won’t have to take Tylenol I wish I could get back surgery or god to heal it alsoupper back from haveing scoliosis hurt at night as well
