🔹 Swan Neck Deformity
✔️ Hyperextension of PIP joint and flexion of DIP joint
✔️ Caused by laxity of PIP joint capsule and imbalance between flexor & extensor muscles
🔹 Boutonniere Deformity
✔️ Flexion of PIP joint and hyperextension of DIP joint
✔️ Due to rupture of central slip of extensor tendon
🔹 Mallet Finger
✔️ Flexion of DIP joint with inability to extend
✔️ Caused by avulsion or rupture of the extensor tendon at DIP
✅ Joints Involved in RA: MCP (Metacarpophalangeal), PIP (Proximal Interphalangeal)
✅ Sparing of DIP joints is characteristic of RA (involvement suggests secondary OA or PsA).
