  1. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and OA. Every time I make the slightest movement, my hips crack and pop out of the sockets slightly. It’s getting a lot worse now that I’m getting older. I do think muscle strengthening is the only thing that could help. I’m pretty sedentary. I’m starting to get mobility impaired

  2. I fell flat on my face onto concrete walkway. It took about 10 days for me to feel better except for the lingering pain in my inner thigh causing me to think it was a fractured hip. I've been doing the exercises seen on your videos and slowly began to feel less pain. But now I'm wondering if it's a pulled muscle or hernia. I've had one in the same area repaired almost 50 years ago.

  3. I have recently joined a fitness center and hired a trainer to help me build muscles affecting my bone on bone right hip arthritis. The exercises have irritated the hip somewhat and I am scheduled to have a hip injection so I can continue strengthening the muscles without as much pain. Is that a good idea?

  4. I've been very interested by your videos. I am a 68-year-old serious runner with arthritis in one hip (limited hip to chest and internal rotation; no trouble sitting, sleeping, walking up and down stairs, elliptical machine, etc.). Due to other issues, on the side that has arthritis, I've lost a lot of strength and muscle volume in quads, hip flexor and glutes. I am doing an intensive program to strengthen the glutes, but in this particular case, do you think I can continue to strengthen the weak quad?

  5. As a bodyworker, I emphasize this information you teach, and refer them to seek your help.
I also explain how the scar tissues/ adhesions in the Gluteals, and all the structures above and below the knee are causing their pain.
I use pin and frictioning while they are side laying with the top leg supported. It is less painful though, to place suction cups to pull adhesions loose before applying the pin and friction.

  6. 2:45 'no point in asking a health care professional who doesn't know about muscle imbalance' = incompetence at best, deliberate gaslighting to create future income for the hip replacement department at worst. In any case, health care professionals "not knowing" what they're talking about but expecting full compliance and no arguments, is EVIL. Stupidity and ignorance masquerading as "professional" is EVIL…but highly lucrative.

  7. I was just told today I have to have both hips replaced. I am 54 and pretty active.
I have osteoarthritis and am being referred to a surgeon.
This was very upsetting news, and was wondering if continue to work on strengthening my Gluth muscles if I could be OK without surgery there is some flattening of the femur on the right side

  8. Great advice. I've shared before on your channel and will share again my experience so it may help others. Diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis around 2019. Started to pursue total hip replacement (THR) as I was told things will only get worse. The process to get THR here in Canada is lengthy, typically taking 1-2 yrs. (to get the surgery) thru the public health care system. This actually worked out in my favor. Thankfully, I chose to start doing some resistance training, building up the muscles around the hip joint (suspect my glutes were weak). I've been at it now for 2 yrs., doing squats, quad curls and extensions and can say my hip is still hanging in, with minimal discomfort (compared to before). Happy to have been able to at least delay the surgery further.

  9. Hi Dr Middaugh, I believe I'm at stage 3 of hip arthritis. My doctor has scheduled me for a hyaluronic acid injection. If I concentrate on my glutes and get the injection will that be a good combination? Or will the injection hamper the cartilage restoration?
    Thank you

  10. Hi ,I listen to you ,and follow your advice you give ,you really are so educated and what you saying to everyone your opinion counts it does work and help who want to get the help they need! Thanks ,you are an Epic teacher sharing your knowledge to all!You also demonstrate it to us that what impress me then we can accomplish and benefit from what you show us! Keep sharing hun!

  11. This information is totally consistent with my experience with FAI. The ONLY thing that seems to be helping is strengthening my glutes/posterior chain. I've only started doing these exercises daily for about a week and am feeling better results than anything else I've tried over the course of three years.

  12. I have spent a year telling physios i have a muscle imbalance! i am a movement therapist and this is what i need. butt exercises – i have over active hip flexors and hyper mobile knee collapsing in – your videos showed me i was right. So my knee keeps collapsing and hip pain came back

  13. This was excellent and timely – I have a doctor’s appointment next week and was going to ask getting on the wait-list for surgery. I’ve been doing your exercises for a few months and am much improved but not there yet. However, I know that I am lop-sided, having broken all the bones in my opposite leg, which is now shorter and has less strength overall. Now I know exactly what to ask for! Phew! You pulled me back from the edge – Thank you! 🙏❤️
