It’s possible to regain mobility in your hips WITHOUT flaring up pain….✅
As a physical therapist who specializes in helping people with osteoarthritis, Dr. Alyssa Kuhn walks you through 4 of her favorite mobility exercises for stiff hips. Stiffness is common with hip osteoarthritis but it’s also common if you are dealing with muscle imbalances.
Adventurers for Life link:
Stiff hips can make walking, stairs, getting in/out of the car and getting into bed difficult. These 4 movements can help to limber up the hip joint, improve range of motion and decrease joint irritability if done consistently.
These movements are for all fitness levels and can be modified or made more challenging depending on what you are looking for. Too many hip mobility exercises involve bands and getting on the floor. These movements are all done in standing.

Hello Alyssa, Just came across your site and as a male of 70+ this just might be the place for me to exercise my early senior body. My question is how many times a day should I do these exercises, and how many days a week to do them. Should I alternate areas to work during the week, I am trying to set up a routine. Thank you, of all the videos out there yours is the best to follow and understand.
I love this video! You give very good, easy to follow instructions, without over-explaining everything. Thank you, Alyssa!

Thank you so much for these videos 🤗. I've been practicing some of your other hip exercises for about a month and feel and move so much better. A question though. My legs are of uneven lengths. Should I wear footwear that compensates for this when I practice these exercises? Usually I just do them barefooted.
Thanks and Thanks again!

Thank you! I go to the pool 5 days a week and do many of your exercises in the water. I'm 68, fell a few years ago and slowly found my left hip becoming painful. This past summer l started walkingvwith a cane. There are so many differing 'experts' giving advise. By far, YOURS has given me tge most consistent relief. After several months of doing your exercises in the pool , am able to walk more consistently WITHOUT using it.
