  1. I have facet joint hypertrophy with intense muscular type pain in my thighs, excruciating pain. Also have degenerative disc disease with arthritis, separated vertebrae going forward & going in a reverse motion, spinal stenosis, bulging & flattening discs, and 3 cysts on the base of my spine. Also have severe osteoporosis. Walking & standing for longer than 5 minutes is impossible. Will begin seeing chiropractor on 9-3. Will bring my MRI disc & written report with me. Hope I get some relief! Very difficult getting around.

  2. Hi does anyone have a confirmed diagnosis of facet syndrome? If so can you describe when/where you get pain other than extension? i have spasms on over extension, but it's not the only symptom. thanks

  3. Great video! Thank you for this. I was just diagnosed with FJS as well as spinal curvature. When I lay in bed within 15 minutes I stiffen up and my right glute starts to spasm. Chiro is not helping or PT. Some PT exercises made my pain worse. I sleep with pillow and bent knees but every morning I takes me over an hour to get the stiffness and knots out. HELP! 🙁

  4. What about good and safe methods/exercises to STRENGTHEN our back? These stretches are ok, but I don't really see much relief at all. Isnt the best solution to strengthen our core/lower back?

  5. Thank you! I'm in so much pain! I am 6 months PP with baby #3 and nursing, I can't take anything for the pain and I'm constantly lifting heavy things. My chiro told me the only thing that would work is a $1,500 therapy session with them. This is a great alternative!lol And I really really don't want to resort to shots!

  6. Thank you Darren, following your instructions on this facet syndrome video only ONCE gave my back a relief.. had an accident with a heavy ladder falling on my shoulder causing an instant 'kink' pain feeling between the scapulas, lasting for days with lack of mobility of the neck added. The doc next day after my yoga..found nothing much and the physiotherapist the day after even less.. all fixed and staying that way. Splendid. No toxic diclofenac needed.

  7. here i am, 2:58am, doing these stretches as a last resort, a couple months after i found your video. i am miserable. it's gotten pretty hopeless over the last years. really got to a point where i wanted to see my way out. seing a chiro and pain management now. so tough to keep hope. anything else you guys got for facet syndrome? can't thank you guys enough for these videos and tips. some people are surviving on them.

  8. Hello Darren, great video and advice. I suffer from acute facet joint inflammation for 18 mths (one day my back just went and it took me 7 days to be able to stand up straight). Have spent £s on chiropractor, osteopath, physio, etc and still in chronic pain and unable to do sports (was doing golf and taekwondo). Have started doing these exercises few days ago and will give you update after a month; seems good so far.

  9. Are the plow pose and hugging knees to chest safe for someone suffering from Facet syndrome? I used to do them a lot. But recently those poses cause my bad joints to move out of alignment and get stuck, causing the worst kind of pain imaginable.

  10. Thank you for sharing Jody! There are many techniques employed by chiroprators. One that we use in my office is called "Flexion Distraction," and I've had a lot of success with it with relieving facet pain. Thank you!

  11. I've had facet syndrome for five years. I had been doing yoga for about 10 years on and off. these exercises, I have found, relieve the pain temporarily. I also have hypermobility syndrome and was and am still very flexible. The poses I cannot do are cobra and up dog-it causes a stabbing pain my lumbar spine.
Chiropractic was my first choice of treatment in the 1st yr, it didn't help. Neither did injections and RF ablation.
Only thing i can do is work hard on core strength.
